At Bur Oak Acres, our mission is to cultivate a meaningful farm life built on hard work, continuous learning, and a deep love for animals. We are dedicated to raising healthy, well-cared-for livestock while embracing self-sufficiency and responsible stewardship of our land. By fostering a stronger connection between people and agriculture, we strive to create a farm where our family—and others—can grow, learn, and thrive.
About Bur Oak Acres
Welcome to Bur Oak Acres, a small family farm in Western Wisconsin, where Michaela and Ryan have turned a love for animals and self-sufficiency into a growing adventure. Though both were raised in rural Wisconsin, their farming journey truly began in 2020 when a coworker convinced Ryan that goats were a must-have. With a newborn in tow and 15 acres of land, Michaela was initially hesitant—but seeing their son’s love for animals (and the goats’ talent for clearing buckthorn), she was quickly on board.
Bur Oak Acres is more than just a farm—it’s a labor of love, a place to grow, learn, and share the beauty of farm life with family and friends.

Our Goats
All of our goats are registered Myotonic (fainting) goats. This breed of goat is famous for their unique genetic condition called myotonia congenita which causes them to collapse or ‘faint’ when startled or excited. They have a calm demeanor, are easy to handle, and cannot jump like other goat breeds.
All of our goats (1 year or older) tested NEGATIVE for CL, Johne’s, CAE, and Q Fever on 12/18/2024 by Sage Laboratories, LLC.
